Wolters Kluwer and Otology & Neurotology, Inc. announce launch of O&N open access journal ONO
April 9, 2021 – Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information and point of care solutions for the healthcare industry, announced today the launch of the open access journal Otology & Neurotology Open as an extension of its publishing collaboration with Otology & Neurotology, Inc., the publishing arm of prestigious societies the American Otological Society and the American Neurotology Society. Wolters Kluwer has published the Societies’ flagship journal Otology & Neurotology for over 20 years.
Otology & Neurotology Open (ONO), now open for manuscript submissions, is a gold open access journal created to expand the breadth of published research within the multidisciplinary fields of otology, neurotology, cranial base surgery, neural engineering, and materials science as they relate to ear disease.
ONO will publish cutting-edge research reporting on the technological advances impacting the diagnosis and treatment of disease related to the human ear," said Editor-in-Chief Michael E. Hoffer, MD, FACS, Professor of Otolaryngology and Neurological Surgery at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. "In addition, ONO will allow for the exploration of far-forward ideas just being considered in laboratories and will provide a forum for original research with immediate access to raw data. Most importantly, ONO will allow scientific and clinical advances to be available to everyone regardless of their access to a published subscription.”
The ONO editorial board comprises physicians, audiologists, engineers, and basic scientists from around the world and is representative of the multidisciplinary nature of the specialty. ONO provides all authors – and particularly those required to publish in gold open access journals – a new opportunity to share research that ultimately results in improved patient outcomes. Follow ONO on Twitter (@ONOjournal) and on Facebook to learn more about the journal and for direct links to articles upon publication later this year.
“This new open access collaboration with Wolters Kluwer is a value-added service to meet the evolving needs of authors and readers in the otology & neurotology community. ONO is an extension of the Otology & Neurotology brand and will adopt its rigorous peer review and publication excellence, while being freely accessible to readers worldwide,” said David S. Haynes, MD, MMHC, FACS, Secretary/Treasurer of Otology & Neurotology, Inc., and Professor of Otolaryngology, Neurosurgery and Hearing and Speech Sciences, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. “We are very pleased to add Otology & Neurotology Open to our portfolio of learning tools for practitioners, as the demand for gold open access publishing grows.”
Otology & Neurotology Open is launching during the virtual Combined Otolaryngology Spring Meetings, April 7-11, 2021. The journal will publish quarterly issues beginning Summer 2021. Authors interested in contributing to ONO may submit their work at: https://www.editorialmanager.com/ono/default.aspx.
